Katy ISD

Katy Independent School District in Texas suffered a data security breach after the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent misplaced a portable flash drive containing its personal data.

The flash drive continued personal information including names, mailing addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers of 11,658 employees.

Katy ISD along with IRS investigated the incident and asked for recovery costs from the IRS for credit monitoring services it has retained for the affected employees
