Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center suffered a data security incident that affected 2,808 patients of the Detroit and Farmington centers and their family members.

The breach happened as an unencrypted flash drive containing administrative information was misplaced from the envelope it was mailed.

Karmanos Cancer Center notified potential victims and offered them a year of free identity protection and is still looking for the lost drive.
