Juniper Networks

In 2024, the advanced persistent threat (APT) group UNC3886, linked to China, targeted Juniper Networks by deploying custom backdoors on outdated Junos OS MX routers. This cyber espionage attack compromised network devices, potentially threatening the defense, technology, and telecommunications sectors in the US and Asia. Mandiant's investigation revealed the use of six TinyShell-based backdoors designed for stealth and persistence, presenting serious risks of unauthorized access and control over compromised systems.
