JC Resorts Discloses Data Breach Affecting Personal Information
JC Resorts LLC, a family-owned hospitality company based in La Jolla, California, has reported a data breach that occurred on January 19, 2026. The company detected unauthorized activity on its network and launched an investigation with external cybersecurity experts to assess the incident.
The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed and copied files containing names and Social Security numbers. After identifying the exposed data, JC Resorts conducted a review to determine the affected individuals. While the total number of impacted consumers nationwide remains undisclosed, six Massachusetts residents were confirmed as affected.
The breach was formally reported to the California Attorney General and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on April 28, 2026, the same day notification letters were mailed to affected individuals.
In response, JC Resorts is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorks, including fraud detection, identity restoration support, and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
