Ignitis Group
Ignitis Group, one of the largest energy companies in the Baltic states, faced its most significant cyber-attack in a decade orchestrated by the pro-Russian hacking group Killnet. The attack, mainly consisting of numerous distributed denial of service (DDoS) assaults, aimed to disrupt the company's digital services and websites. Despite the severity, Ignitis Group managed to limit the impact on its systems, notably avoiding any breaches. This cyber-attack emerges as Lithuania endures extensive cyber-attacks since late June, correlating with the enforcement of EU sanctions on goods traveling to Kaliningrad. The company has actively cooperated with authorities and prioritized the uninterrupted operation of its websites and digital services to its 1.6 million clients across Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and Finland. The attack underscores the increasing geopolitical tensions in the region, reflecting the broader implications of cyber-attacks on national security and critical infrastructure.
