Horry County school was hit by a ransomware attack that left its system to remain locked out of several servers for more than a week.
The school immediately shut down its servers to stop the malware from spreading further which interrupted some online services.
A high-level encryption was used to lock up the data on the schools’ servers but no information was stolen or removed during the attack.
According to the hackers only way to get the servers back was to pay.
