Cyber gangsters had attacked the computer systems of a medical research company on standby to carry out trials of a possible future vaccine for the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The Maze ransomware group attacked the computer systems of Hammersmith Medicines Research (HMR).

They published the personal details of thousands of former patients after the company declined to pay a ransom.
