Greenville Water experienced a payment system outage which was caused by an international cyberattack.
The customers were not able to do payments from 21-27 jan.
About 500,000 accounts were affected.
Automatic draft payments were not affected.
No one was fined or had their water shut off for late payments.
The utility's data has not been compromised.
Water treated and maintained at the facility is not affected.
