Meadowlark Hills Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Information of Over 14,000 Individuals
The Manhattan Retirement Foundation, operating as Meadowlark Hills a nonprofit senior care provider based in Manhattan, Kansas recently disclosed a data breach that compromised the personal and financial information of 14,442 individuals. The incident occurred between July 12 and July 21, 2025, when unauthorized access to the organization’s network was detected.
An investigation, conducted with external cybersecurity experts, concluded on January 28, 2026. Meadowlark Hills reported the breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on February 26, 2026, and to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office the following day. A public notice was also posted on the organization’s website, and affected individuals were notified.
The exposed data includes highly sensitive information, such as:
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Driver’s license and state ID numbers
- Financial account and payment card details
- Medical and health insurance information
Among those impacted was at least one resident of Massachusetts. The law firm Shamis & Gentile P.A. is now investigating potential legal action on behalf of affected individuals, who may be eligible for compensation through a class action lawsuit.
