Granite Wellness Centers Settles $725,000 Data Breach Lawsuit
Granite Wellness Centers has agreed to a $725,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit stemming from a January 5, 2021, data breach that exposed sensitive patient information. The breach potentially compromised personally identifiable and protected health data, including names, Social Security numbers, medical histories, insurance details, and financial information.
Eligible class members U.S. residents affected by the breach may file claims for reimbursement of documented losses (up to $5,000) or a pro rata cash payment (estimated at $750). California residents can also claim an additional $100. Claims must be submitted by April 27, 2026, with payments distributed after final court approval.
The settlement fund covers administrative costs, attorneys’ fees (up to $241,425), expenses (up to $20,000), and service awards for class representatives ($10,000 total). Granite Wellness Centers denies wrongdoing but settled to avoid litigation.
Key dates include an opt-out deadline of March 28, 2026, and a final approval hearing on April 28, 2026. Payments will be issued within 30 days of claim processing or final court approval.
