Listed City company Gateley has admitted that an IT system cyberattack resulted in the theft of customer data.

After finding a system intrusion, the company announced it was handling a cyber security situation.

The business said that its IT staff swiftly detected the intrusion and took prompt action to secure its systems.

The market reacted quickly, wiping out about 8% of the share value in an hour after the board declared the attack had no impact on financial performance.
