Fall River Public Schools Investigates Cybersecurity Breach

Fall River Public Schools announced on Monday that it is investigating a cybersecurity breach after an unauthorized party accessed parts of the district’s internal network. The incident was detected by the district’s chief information officer, who identified suspicious activity earlier the same day.

District IT staff responded swiftly to contain the breach, collaborating with third-party cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to assess the scope of the intrusion. At this stage, there is no evidence that student or staff personal data was accessed or misused. However, if further investigation reveals exposure, affected individuals will be notified.

The district is conducting a thorough forensic analysis with external experts and has begun reinforcing its network defenses to prevent future incidents.
