Empresas Públicas de Medellín - EPM

Colombian energy company Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) recently was targeted in a BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware attack.

EPM is one of Colombia’s largest public energy, water, and gas providers, providing services to 123 municipalities and the attack disrupted the company's operations and took down its online services.

The company had to tell approximately 4,000 employees to work from home, with its IT infrastructure down and the company's websites no longer available.

The attack on EPM caused devices to be encrypted and data to be stolen.
