Eastern Health

The internal emails and IT systems of Eastern Health were targeted by a ransomware attack in March 2021.

The health system has to shut down its systems to contain the further spread of the attack which caused delays in elective surgeries.

The attack hindered doctors from accessing hospital systems to retrieve patients’ medical histories and thus affected patients' safety.
