Dundee and Angus College in Scotland reveal ransomware offences. The lot was demanded after reading their bank statement.
The ransom demand made by the thieves who attacked Scotland's Dundee and Angus College exactly matched the amount of money in the college's bank account.
The hackers had gained access to our bank account and were aware of how much money was in it, which was the annual budget.
Hewitt did not specify whether or not the ransom was paid. Still, it seems likely that it was not because the effort required to reconstruct the college's IT infrastructure suggests that the damage caused was nearly sufficient to destroy the entire organization.
