Cumbria Police acknowledges significant data breach after worker names and salaries are posted online.

A "human error" caused the force to discover that information on pay and benefits had been posted on its website.

The force's admission follows this week's "industrial scale data breach" in Northern Ireland, which resulted in the internet publication of certain information about some 10,000 officers and staff for a period of time.

As soon as the intrusion was discovered, this information was deleted. The Cumbria constabulary alerted every impacted person about the data breach very away, informing them of its modest impact and the steps it has taken to manage it and prevent it from happening again.
