On July 1, 2024, the Maine Office of the Attorney General reported that Covington & Burling LLP experienced a data breach due to a spear phishing attack on February 26, 2024. The breach affected 35 individuals in total, including 2 residents of Maine, and led to the unauthorized access of personal information. Complimentary identity theft protection services through Experian IdentityWorks were offered for 24 months to impacted individuals.
