County of Elgin

The personal data from Elgin County citizens were exposed in a recent data breach incident.

The personal information of 330 people, some of it highly sensitive, was compromised by a cyber-security incident that even knocked out Elgin County’s website and email system for nearly a month.

Some of the information including health records, financial information, work, and job appraisals were also dumped on the dark web.

Elgin also offered 12 months of credit protection and identity theft services for those affected by the breach.
