Coincheck, Inc.
The value of the major cryptocurrencies fell due to the news of the Coincheck hack, which affected the Japan-based digital exchange. The NEM value fell by more than 16 per cent in a single day.
Except for Bitcoin, the company halted deposit and withdrawal activities. The exchange also declared that it looked into any "unauthorised access" to the platform.
NEM is the tenth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, and the business claims that the hackers stole cryptocurrency valued at half a billion US dollars.
Coincheck, which has 260,000 users affected by the cyber heist, would reimburse these customers for around 46.3 billion yen using its cash.
