The Cloquet school district fell victim to a malicious computer software attack that resulted in the equivalent of a lock on much of its information.
The district had to cancel the school for one day so as to let the technical staff have time for recovering from the malware.
The attackers demanded a $6,000 ransom to help them restore the systems.
However, the school did not pay the ransom but its staff raised the contents of its computers and reinstalled the essential programs.
