The City of Lafayette experienced a ransomware attack on July 27, 2020.

They paid $45,000 to regain control of its servers.

Staff emails and phones were disabled.

Online payment and reservation systems and other critical functions of the Boulder County municipality were also disabled.

City Manager Fritz Sprague said it would take a week or more to decrypt the city's data and systems.
