City of Quincy

The technological infrastructure of the City of Quincy was under the attack of a ransomware group.

The attack first targeted the Quincy police and fire departments but soon the city's email and phone systems were also affected.

The attackers demanded ransom was a half-million-dollar ransom to provide an encryption key to unlock hijacked data but the city did not pay the ransom and committed about $650,000 toward mitigating the attack by its own.
