Change Healthcare

Following a ransomware attack on Change Healthcare in February, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched the Accelerated and Advance Payment Program to mitigate cash flow disruptions for Medicare providers, including hospitals and physicians. Over $3 billion in accelerated and advance payments were disbursed to assist affected entities, ensuring continuous patient care despite the cyberattack's financial impact. CMS has since reclaimed most of the funds, and normal billing processes have resumed.
