Change Healthcare

Following a ransomware attack in February, Change Healthcare experienced significant disruptions that impacted cash flow for Medicare providers and suppliers. To mitigate the situation, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the closure of the Accelerated and Advance Payment Program established in response to this cyberattack. Over $3.2 billion in payments were expedited to support healthcare entities during this period, and CMS has since recouped the majority of these funds. The swift actions taken by CMS helped sustain vital patient care services and limited the damaging effects of the cyberattack on the healthcare system.
