California Community Credit Union: Final days for Americans to get up to $7,500 from $2.9 million data breach settlement

Americans have just over two weeks to apply for compensation

A SETTLEMENT is paying eligible Americans up to $7,500 to resolve claims it failed to prevent a data breach.

Communication Federal Credit Union (CFCU) has agreed to a $2.9 million class action after sensitive data was stolen between December 31 2023 and January 11 2024.

Americans who potentially had their personal information poached will benefit from the arrangement.

The breach compromised names, birth dates, addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, bank account information and card numbers.

Eligible Americans are set to receive either a cash payment or reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses related to the shock breach.

CFCU customers who experienced out-of-pocket losses, can bag up to $7,500 for expenses.

These expenses usually include credit-related fees, ID replacement costs and fraud or identity theft losses.

Anyone who didn’t experience these types of losses can still expect to be granted a pro rata share of the settlement funds.

The pro rata funds have been estimated at $125, but they could get smaller or larger depending
