The K–12 district of Bridgeport Public Schools in Connecticut, which is located roughly 40 miles northeast of the Bronx, reported being hit with ransomware.
The district data has been encrypted as part of the cyberattack by a virus sent by a malevolent foreigner in exchange for a ransom.
The district has not indicated how much the ransom is or whether it will pay it instead of taking action to unlock the locked material on its own.
