UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 JATC Confirms Data Breach Affecting 20,623 Individuals
On January 28, 2026, the UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) concluded its investigation into a cybersecurity breach that exposed the sensitive personal information of 20,623 individuals across the U.S., including 45 residents of Maine.
The incident was first detected on May 23, 2024, when JATC identified suspicious activity on its systems. A forensic investigation determined that an international criminal group had accessed and exfiltrated files containing personally identifiable information (PII) between May 17 and May 23, 2024. Compromised data included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and state ID numbers.
JATC reported the breach to the attorneys general of California, Maine, Oregon, and Vermont and began notifying affected individuals in writing on the same day. The organization also engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to secure its network, notified federal law enforcement, and initiated a review of its security policies to prevent future incidents.
To mitigate risks for those impacted, JATC is offering one year of complimentary credit monitoring, credit report access, and credit score services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. Affected individuals have 90 days from notification to enroll.
