Ascension, a St. Louis-based health system, was hit by a ransomware attack that disrupted services such as electronic health records (EHR), test ordering, and medication prescriptions. The cyberattack led to hospitals diverting emergency medical services to ensure immediate triage of emergency cases. As a result, patients were advised to bring detailed notes regarding their medical condition and medications to assist healthcare professionals due to the inaccessibility of digital records.
