The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) observatory, the world's largest astronomical project located in Chile, suffered a cyberattack that forced it to suspend its activities.
The cyberattack forced the suspension of astronomical observations and the public website, as well as limiting the use of e-mail services.
However, the threat was contained soon and the centre's IT specialists worked to restore the affected systems.
