A threat actor claimed to have hacked Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics giant Acer, and the company has since disclosed a data breach.
On a well-known site for cybercrime, the threat actor disclosed the hack and claimed to have stolen roughly 2869 files. The files that were taken contain sensitive data such as BIOS information, backend infrastructure, binaries, and proprietary product model documentation.
Acer acknowledged the issue and disclosed a data breach, stating that intruders had gained access to one of its systems.
There is currently no evidence that any customer data was saved on that server, according to the announcement from Acer, whose investigation is ongoing.
